AMD to launch Ryzen 7 9800X3D in October – Rumour

AMD reportedly mentions Ryzen 9000 X3D during Gigabyte X870 event

The leaker zhangzhonghau has claimed that AMD’s gaming-oriented Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU will be released at the end of October. This information reportedly comes from a Gigabyte X870 motherboard event. There, it was reportedly confirmed that AMD’s Ryzen 9950X3D and 9900X3D CPUs would be released later.

Currently, it is unknown what AMD’s Zen 5 X3D CPUs will look like. AMD has promised “really cool updates to X3D“, suggesting that AMD’s new X3D CPUs will support more features. It is also possible that these new X3D chips will deliver a larger performance boost than normal.

9800X3D should be released at the end of October

This time the 9950X3D and 9900X3D will have some new features so they won’t be released together with the 9800X3D. I estimate they will be released early next year.

This is not just me saying this, AMD’s official staff also revealed that Gigabyte’s X870 press conference was attended by AMD people. And this year there are indeed only 9800X3D, 9950X3D and 9900X3D because they have new things and will have to wait until next year.

On the same Chiphell thread, wjm47196, another leaker, claimed that AMD’s Ryzen 9800X3D would not be overclockable. This contrasts earlier rumours about AMD’s next-generation X3D CPUs.

Other rumours about AMD’s new X3D chips suggest that AMD’s new gaming chips will not have the same clock speed downsides as their predecessors. Earlier X3D CPUs have notably lower CPU clock speeds than their non-X3D counterparts. If AMD can deliver similar clock speeds with their new X3D CPUs, AMD should be able to deliver a higher-than-normal performance boost with their new X3D CPUs.
