Patriot Memory launches their Viper PV573 PCIe 5.0 SSD
Patriot delivers 14 GB/s speeds with their new Viper PV573 SSD
Patriot has officially launched their new Viper PV573 PCIe 5.0 SSD, pushing speeds up to 2.8x faster than their PCIe 4.0 SSDs and almost 7x faster than their PCIe 3.0 drives. We first saw this SSD at CES 2024.
This new Patriot SSD uses 232-layer 3D TLC NAND and Phison’s E26 Max14um SSD controller. Note that this drive boasts sequential read/write speeds of 14,000 MB/s and 12,000 MB/s, respectively. Additionally, this SSD uses a proprietary active cooler to deliver strong thermal performance under workstation workloads.
Patriot has created this SSD for gamers, video editors, modellers, and renderers. Despite its workload, it is made to be used heavily and deliver high levels of SSD performance. That’s why this SSD includes an active heatsink and storage capacities of up to 4TB.
Under load, this SSD is said to run at temperatures below 45 degrees Celcius. This is thanks to SSD controller optimisations and Patriot’s active heatsink design.
With its heatsink, Phison’s Viper series SSDs are 16.5mm thick, and the included fan with their heatsink is rated for 25,000 hours of operation. With this heatsink solution, users do not need to worry about thermal throttling under load. That said, this fan’s power connector is a bit on the clunky side. Then again, that’s the cost of peak performance.
This SSD will be available at retailers soon. Sadly, Patriot has not provided us with UK pricing for this SSD.
