Leaked benchmarks detail Intel Ultra 9 285K Gaming Performance

High-end gaming with lowered power draw – Intel Ultra 9 285K Benchmarks leak

Intel is getting ready to release its Ultra 200 series of “Arrow Lake” CPUs, and gaming benchmarks for its Ultra 9 285K CPU have leaked. Below is a comparison between Intel’s i9-14900K and its Ultra 9 285K, both of which are CPUs with 8 P-cores and 16 E-cores. What we have here is an interesting set of results.

Overall, Intel’s Core i9-14900K and Core Ultra 9 285K appear to deliver performance levels equal to each other in gaming workloads. For most of the results below, both CPUs are on par. Even in extreme cases, both CPUs perform within 15% of each other, and the Ultra 9 285K doesn’t beat its predecessor in all tests.

For gamers, the Ultra 9 285K doesn’t appear to be an upgrade option for i9-14900K users, at least for gamers. However, it should be noted that the slides below appear to suggest that Intel’s new Arrow Lake CPU draws much less power than its predecessor. Up to 165 watts less power draw with the Ultra 9 285K. That’s a huge change for those who care about power efficiency.

While these results are interesting, they are unlikely to sell many processors. After all, PC builders want newly released hardware to outperform existing products. While lowered power draw is an obvious benefit, it won’t win Intel any benchmark battles. That said, this change should make Intel’s CPUs easier to cool, as lowered power draw means lowered heat production.
