Final Fantasy XIV is dropping Windows 10 support
Square Enix is abandoning Windows 10 support for Final Fantasy XIV this year
Microsoft is officially ending security support for Windows 10 on October 14th, and while users can extend this support, the OS has reached the end of its life. Microsoft wants users to move on from Windows 10, and so does Square Enix. Today, Square Enix has confirmed that it is dropping support for Final Fantasy XIV on Windows 10, with no plans to support the OS from October 14th onwards.
As of October 14th, Square Enix will no longer provide support for users experiencing issues with Microsoft’s older operating systems. While the game should still work on Microsoft’s old OS, Square Enix will not be fixing all bugs as they arise. This means that Final Fantasy XIV may eventually become unplayable on pre-Windows 11 systems.
Some technical support may be provided to Windows 10 users, although this support will be offered on a case-by-case basis.
[Important] Regarding the End of Windows 10 Support / System Requirements Update
FINAL FANTASY XIV support for Windows 10 will end on October 14, 2025.
Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or support for PCs running Windows 10 after October 14, 2025 so we have found that continuing support for this operating system is a difficult proposition.
You will likely be able to play FINAL FANTASY XIV on Windows 10 systems even after the end of support. However, after we discontinue support, we will as a general rule no longer be able to provide support for problems arising as a result of the operating system.
Square Enix may respond to requests for technical support regarding Windows 10 issues after the end of support, but such informal support will be limited, on a case-by-case basis, and is not guaranteed.
In addition, to accompany this change, the OS/CPU requirements for the Windows version will be updated on October 14, 2025. Please see below for the updated requirements.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Final Fantasy XIV is an old game. The MMO was first available in 2010, back when Windows 7 was relatively new. So far, the game has managed to outlast Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and now Windows 10.
