AMD prepares for FSR 4 “Redstone” with FSR 3.1.4

AMD’s getting ready to give FSR 4 a major upgrade

AMD has launched FSR 3.1.4 and has released updated FSR plugins for Unreal Engine 5.6, paving the way towards the release of FSR 4 “Redstone” and its suite of AI technologies.

FSR 3.1.4 promises “improved upscaling quality” and an “easily upgradable DLL” that supports AMD’s FSR 4 driver upgrade feature. This new version of FSR will also make it easier for developers to adopt AMD’s FSR 4 “Redstone” technologies when they launch later this year.

FSR 4 “Redstone”

AMD’s upcoming “Redstone” upgrade for FSR 4 is launching this year. FSR “Redstone” included the following technologies.

  • Neural Radiance Caching: Dynamically learns and then predicts how light propagates through a scene, delivering efficient real-time global illumination.
  • ML Ray Regeneration: Infers and restores full-quality ray-traced detail from sparse samples, delivering sharp, noise-free visuals with reduced rendering cost.
  • ML Super Resolution: Reconstruct crisp, high-quality visuals from low-resolution frames with AMD FSR 4.
  • ML Frame Generation: Predicts and inserts new frames between rendered ones, now using ML, to deliver smoother and higher frame rate gaming.

FSR 3.1.4 is ready to support AMD’s upcoming ML Frame Generation technology. It features new parameters that help AMD’s AI Frame Generation tech to deliver better results than today’s FSR 3 Frame Generation (non-AI) technique.

FSR 3.1.4 support will give game developers a head start in adopting AMD’s upcoming Redstone technologies. Furthermore, AMD has released a new FSR plugin for Unreal Engine 5.6 to make game integration easier. Furthermore, AMD has released a new Anti-Lag 2 Plugin for Unreal Engine 5.6, reducing end-to-end latency in GPU-bound games.
