Intel AMD Laptop CPU roadmaps leaks – 2026/2027 release plans unveiled

Laptop CPU roadmap highlights AMD Medusa, Intel Panther Lake, and Intel Nova Lake CPUs

A CPU roadmap from an unknown laptop manufacturer has leaked, highlighting the next-generation CPU release plans for both AMD and Intel. This leaked roadmap, shared via @Momomo_us on Twitter/X, reveals what’s coming to laptops in 2026 and 2027.

This roadmap indicates that Intel’s Panther Lake CPUs will be released in Q2 2026, suggesting that Intel’s next-generation mobile GPUs will reach general availability at that time. Intel has stated repeatedly that Panther Lake CPUs will be available this year. This likely means that Panther Lake will initially be available in limited quantities to specific OEMs, with broader availability coming later.

For AMD, next-generation “Medusa” series CPUs will become available in Q2 2026. The name of this CPU is unknown; however, if AMD follows its current naming convention, it will likely be part of the Ryzen AI 400 series. AMD’s Medusa CPUs are expected to feature Zen 6 CPU cores.

In 2027, Intel’s Nova Lake laptop CPUs are expected to be released, arriving as part of the Intel Core Ultra 400 series. If Intel follows convention, Nova Lake will arrive for desktop users a quarter or two before laptops. This would place the desktop release of Nova Lake CPUs in late 2026.

With new architectures from AMD and Intel, things will heat up for the laptop market as we enter 2026. If nothing else, laptop users should expect stronger, more efficient devices. However, it remains to be seen if Intel’s Panther Lake will deliver the performance gains that users expect. Will this be a big upgrade over Lunar Lake? If not, Intel could lose market share to AMD.
