EA launches Skate as an early access game on PC and consoles
EA’s Skate launches as a free-to-play game
EA has finally launched Skate, its highly anticipated skateboarding game. The game is now available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. On PC, the game is available through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Skate is a free-to-play game that supports cross-progression and cross-platform play. The game will be supported by cosmetics and “Premium Skate Pass” season passes. Over time, EA and Full Circle plan to add more content to Skate. This will include new skateable areas, challenges, events, and other content. This will include content from brand partners.
Season 1 will start in October, adding two seasonal events and other updates. Seasons 2 and 3 will deliver new player-requested features like party voice chat, replay ediitor improvements, more character customisation options, skating tricks, and more. Currently, it is unknown how long Skate will be available through early access. The game’s “full” release is due approximately a year out from the start of Early Access.
Currently, it is unknown if EA plans to release its new Skateboarding game on Nintendo’s Switch or Switch 2. Furthermore, EA has not commented on when its planned Android and iOS versions of the game are expected to launch. If Skate’s coming to Android and iOS, there is no reason why EA couldn’t bring the game to Switch/Switch 2.
