Sapphire NITRO+ X870EA motherboard listed by Polish retailer

Sapphire may soon launch a high-end AM5 motherboard with “PhantomLink” support

Earlier this month, Sapphire launched its Nitro+ B850A WIFI motherboards (review here), and now it appears the company’s gearing up to launch higher-end AMD/AM5 designs. Videocardz has spotted a listing for Sapphire’s Sapphire NITRO+ X870EA motherboard, an X870E AM5 motherboard with WIFI 7 support.

We saw this motherboard at Computex 2025, and it is the only Sapphire motherboard to support “PhantomLink”. PhantomLink is Sapphire’s name for ASUS’ BTF GPU power connector, which allows compatible GPUs to be powered without traditional power connectors. This provides PCs with a more “cable-free” aesthetic by concealing cables in less visible areas of the system.

Below is an image of both Sapphire’s Nitro+ B850A WIFI  and NITRO+ X870EA WIFI PhantomLink motherboards. Note that the PhantomLink motherboard features forward-facing power connectors, defeating the purpose of the motherboard’s PhantomLink GPU power connector. Sapphire, do you want power cables to be seen or don’t you?

Perhaps Sapphire has changed its PhantomLink motherboards ahead of launch to hide their power connectors. If not, PhantomLink is unlikely to be a widely used feature. Note that Sapphire also showcased a “PhantomLink” Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU at Computex.

It looks like Sapphire will soon be ready to dive deeper into the AMD/AM5 motherboard market. Based on this retail listing, this motherboard will cost less than £300 in the UK. This places it on the more affordable side of the AM5 X870E motherboard spectrum. However, it remains to be seen how much these motherboards will really cost at launch.
