Steam Down – Global outage hits PC’s most popular gaming platform

Steam down for almost two hours, impacting PC gamers across the globe

Update – Steam appears to have returned to normal following today’s outage. Hopefully it lasts this time.

Steam is down. PC’s largest gaming platform has been hit with a major outage, with many users suspecting a DDOS attack on the platform. Downdetector has seen a major increase in outage reports for Valve’s Steam platform, with several spikes in reports happening today.

The largest spoke in the outage reports started at around 5 PM BST and tailed off at 7 PM BST. During this time, many users were unable to log in to Steam or use the Steam store. Gamers also reported being able to play games like Counter-Strike and other popular multiplayer titles. This outage impacted both the Steam client and website, with many gamers reporting slow or no connections.

Currently, the cause of Steam’s outage is unknown. The issue appears to have impacted PC gamers globally. Valve has not commented on the outage.
