Battlefield 6 claims victory over Call of Duty as “best selling shooter game”

Battlefield 6 claims to be the “best selling shooter game of the year”

EA has updated its Battlefield 6 webpage to call the game the “best selling shooter game of the year”, claiming victory over Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Based on this statement, EA seems confident that Battlefield 6 has outsold this year’s Call of Duty, which has launched with a poor reception on PC and consoles.

Right now, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has a “Mostly Negative” rating on Steam. In contrast, Battlefield 6 has had a relatively good reception on all platforms. In fact, Battlefield 6 has had the strongest launch in the franchise’s history.

At this time, no third-party data has been released to verify that Battlefield 6 has outsold Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. That said, it is hard to imagine Black Ops 7 gaining more momentum and outselling Battlefield 6. For starters, Battlefield 6’s inclusion in Xbox/PC Game Pass means not all players will buy the game. Furthermore, the game’s negative reception is sure to lower the game’s future sales prospects.

For over a decade, Call of Duty has always stood amongst each year’s top-selling games. For now, it looks like Battlefield 6 will surpass Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. That said, it remains to be seen how successful each game will be in the long term. Can Battlefield 6 maintain its momentum?
