AMD secures EPYC win with record server CPU revenue share

AMD now commands over 40% of server and desktop CPU revenue share

AMD has reached new heights within the CPU market, with both its server CPU and desktop CPU revenue shares surpassing 40%. AMD’s server CPU revenue share is now 41.3%. On desktops, AMD’s CPU revenue share is now 42.6%.

Note that AMD’s server and desktop CPU revenue shares are higher than their current unit share. This means that AMD’s products are selling well to high-end/premium users. AMD’s desktop CPUs account for 36.4% of unit sales and 42.6% of revenue. This is good news for AMD, as it means its products sell at higher prices and likely generate higher profits. For servers, AMD accounts for 28.8% of unit sales and 41.3% of revenues.

For desktops, AMD’s revenue share has increased 11.6% year over year, while its server revenue share has increased 4.9% year over year. For laptops, AMD’s unit share is lower at 26%, and its revenue share is 24.9%. This implies that AMD still has not gained significant ground in the premium mobile market. Regardless, AMD has gained 3.3% revenue share and unit share in this market compared to last year.

Overall, AMD’s growth in the CPU market is solid, with the largest gains in the desktop CPU segment. The laptop/mobile markets remain a weaker area for AMD, presenting the largest opportunity for continued growth.

AMD’s gains are coming at the expense of Intel, making 2026 a critical year for Team Blue. With Panther Lake arriving for the mobile market and Nova Lake coming later this year, Intel has an opportunity to reinforce its mobile CPU market share and regain lost ground in the desktop market. That said, AMD isn’t going to let that happen without a fight. Zen 6 is coming, and it will battle Intel Nova Lake for the performance crown.
