Darksiders Warmastered Edition receives a surprise 2026 PC update

Darksiders Warmastered now plays much better on Valve’s Steam Deck

Almost a decade after launch, Darksiders Warmastered has received a major PC update. Alongside the game’s new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions, Darksiders Warmastered has been given a PC overhaul. This overhaul introduces a new photo mode, various bug fixes, and major changes targeting SteamOS.

Now, Darksiders Warmastered is a 64-bit only game that uses the Vulkan API. This raises the game’s PC system requirements, but delivers improved support for SteamOS and modern PC hardware configurations. Additionally, improved Steam Input support and motion-aiming support make this game great for Steam Deck and Steam Controller users.

Visually, Darksiders Warmastered is unchanged, though this new version sets up the series for a future where Windows and SteamOS are prevalent. With this update, Darksiders Warmastered is now Steam Deck Verified.

Gamers who want to continue using the game’s old version can do so using the game’s properties menu on Steam. Just right-click the game on Steam, enter Properties, then Game Versions and Betas, and then click on the “warmastered2026” branch.
