ASUS unveils its first OLED Esports monitor, the ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace

ASUS has started teasing its first OLED monitor for “Esports”

ASUS has started teasing the “world’s first Esports OLED monitor”, teasing a screen with a 540Hz display, OLED panel, and 24.5-inch screen size. On Instagram, ASUS was explicit, naming the screen the ROG Strix OLEC XG259QWPG ACE, with ACE being ASUS ROG’s Esports brand.

Sadly, ASUS has not confirmed the exact resolution of this screen or other detailed specifications. We expect to learn these soon at Computex 2026.

So what makes this monitor an Esports monitor? The simple answer is its size and refresh rate. This screen’s 24.5-inch size makes it ideal for competitive shooters and tournament play. This size is the most common display size at Esports tournaments, as smaller screens require less head movement from players. This makes competitive play more comfortable.

The introduction of this screen could act as a turning point for the competitive gaming market. For a long time, high-speed TN displays were the most commonly used screens for competitive gaming. Now, OLED screens are catching up in speed, and their strong motion-response characteristics could make them preferable to fast TN displays. However, TN monitors remain faster than OLED, so if it comes down to speed alone, TN still beats OLED.
