Shader stutter begone! – Microsoft brings Advanced Shader Delivery to all Xbox PC app users

Advanced Shader Delivery is now available to all Xbox PC App users

Microsoft has officially expanded Advanced Shader Delivery support to all Xbox PC app users. Starting today, the feature is available for supported games on systems with AMD RDNA-based graphics cards and AMD’s Software 26.6.1 (or newer) GPU drivers. This includes AMD RDNA, RDNA 2, RDNA 3, RDNA 3.5, and RDNA 4 GPUs.

Advanced Shader Delivery solves two problems. By providing pre-compiled shaders to PC gamers, shader compilation stutter in games can be avoided. Additionally, gamers can skip the shader pre-compilation step, making initial game load times much faster.

In Forza Horizon 6, Microsoft claims the initial load time is 95% faster on a Radeon RX 9060 GPU when precompiled shaders are used. That’s a huge time saving for PC gamers. That’s a load time reduction from 1.5 minutes to just four seconds.

Supported Games

Microsoft has released a list of supported games for Advanced Shader Delivery. This list includes games from a broad range of game publishers and developers, suggesting that a large number of developers are interested in Microsoft’s technology.
