ASUS ROG Strix Z890-I Gaming WiFi Review
Introduction and Technical Specifications
Introduction
The Z890 chipset had a rough inception. As the chipset of choice for the LGA1851 socket – that used by the Intel Core Ultra processors – it was somewhat overshadowed by the furore surrounding the Core Ultra release.
Luckily for everyone involved Intel saw that their processors needed a refresh and that brought us the Core Ultra Plus processors. We’ve reviewed them here. Suffice to say if you were planning an upgrade from a 12th or even 13th Gen CPU then the current Core Ultra 7 is a superstar. The primary benefits this has are to the consumer, who hasn’t brought a motherboard with no upgrade path. Intel themselves who haven’t designed two dogs in a row. And, of course, the manufacturers.
You might have checked out our review of the full size ASUS Z890 Strix back when the Core Ultra processors first appeared. With the revision on the market the manufacturers have taken the opportunity to refresh their ranges and ASUS are no exception. Given how insanely popular the Strix motherboards are, that makes perfect sense. When you produce it in the equally popular ITX format, kerching.
By now you’ll all be familiar with what the Z890 motherboards bring to the table, so let’s crack on with finding out what this new Strix Z890-I has to offer.
