Nvidia confirms full GeForce Now Linux support alongside game streaming upgrades
Nvidia has today confirmed some major changes to its GeForce Now game streaming service. Starting today, GeForce Now’s native Linux app has exited beta, supporting Ubuntu 24.02 and newer versions. The app now has an official Flatpak repository for app installation and future updates.
Alongside native Linux support, GeForce Now has received several optimisations to give gamers a better experience. This includes improved CPU performance in games and more responsive streaming when using DLSS Frame Generation.
The native Linux app for GeForce NOW is officially out of beta. GeForce NOW is also delivering new cloud optimizations that make Frame Generation feel even more responsive while streaming. On top of that, Performance members will see higher frame rates in demanding games thanks to a CPU performance adjustment.

Optimised Cloud Gaming performance and reduced Frame Generation latency
Nvidia has implemented new server-side optimisations for GeForce Now. This includes improvements to DLSS Frame Generation that reduce latency, and improved performance in CPU-intensive games.
When using DLSS Frame Generation, GeForce Now users should not notice reduced latency and more responsive gameplay. These changes are said to be very noticeable when gaming at 60 FPS or 120 FPS at 1440p and 4K.
Server software optimisations have also allowed gamers to access more CPU performance, making CPU-heavy games run smoother on Nvidia’s GeForce Now servers. This cloud-side upgrade has been made automatically, which means that GeForce Now users don’t need to do anything to access this additional performance.
GeForce NOW has also optimized DLSS Frame Generation in the cloud, reducing latency and making games feel more responsive. The improvements are especially noticeable when streaming at 60 or 120 frames per second in 1440p and 4K, helping every mouse movement and camera pan feel more immediate.
Performance members will also enjoy additional server software optimizations to improve frame rates in select CPU-intensive games, helping demanding titles run more smoothly while delivering an even better gameplay experience. The cloud-side upgrade happens automatically, with nothing for members to install or configure, and at no additional cost.
