Nvidia DLSS 5 Neural Rendering DLL files leak – Launch incoming?

Early DLSS 5 DLL files have been discovered in NBA 2K27’s early access PC release

In the early access PC release of NBA 2K27, PC enthusiast Renan Maniero discovered DLSS Neural Rendering DLL files that appear to be for Nvidia’s DLSS 5 technology. While Nvidia’s DLSS 5 technology isn’t available in this game, it has leaked Nvidia’s early DLSS 5 DLL file (nvngx_dlssnr.dll). While these files appear unusable in their current state, their existence indicates that Nvidia’s DLSS 5 tech is getting closer to launch.

Earlier this year, references to “DLSS NR” appeared in recent Nvidia GeForce GPU driver releases. DLSS Neural Rendering is expected to be the official name of DLSS 5. Even with this newly leaked DLSS 5 DLL, these driver options cannot be used to force DLSS 5 in games. Regardless, these releases highlight Nvidia’s progress towards DLSS 5 enablement.

DLSS 5 is much larger than Nvidia’s older DLSS technologies

Nvidia’s leaked “nvngx_dlssnr.dll” DLSS 5 DLL file is 158 MB. This size makes this DLL Nvidia’s largest DLSS DLL to date. For context, Nvidia DLSS Super Resolution DLL files are under 50 MB.

This size implies that DLSS 5 Neural Rendering is much more complex than prior versions of DLSS. The performance cost of DLSS 5 is currently unknown. That said, we can expect to hear more about this technology from Nvidia later this year.

(Nvidia DLSS 5 should be released this year)

At SIGGRAPH, Nvidia confirmed that DLSS 5 would be released this year. While Nvidia’s DLSS 5 DLL files have leaked through NBA 2K27, it is unknown if this game will receive a DLSS 5 update later this year. All this leak confirms is that 2K has been testing DLSS 5 using NBA 2K27.
