AMD targets value 1080p gaming with its Ryzen 5 5500F and 7500 CPUs
AMD has released two new CPUs that focus on budget performance
AMD has officially released two new Ryzen CPUs focused on “practical value” for its AM4 and AM5 motherboard platforms. These CPUs are AMD’s new Ryzen 5 5500F and Ryzen 5 7500, both of which feature six CPU cores.
Scan Computers is marketing these CPUs as “1080p gaming” CPUs, with the Ryzen 5 5500F costing £87.98 while the Ryzen 5 7500 costs £167.99. Both CPUs are available to pre-order today. However, AMD’s Ryzen 5 5500F is “due tomorrow”, while the 7500 is due on September 29th.
AMD’s Ryzen 5 5500F appears to be a solid CPU for budget AM4-based PCs. However, the £167.00 Ryzen 5 7500 appears to offer very little value in today’s market. Note that AMD’s newer and faster Ryzen 5 9600X is available for £161.99 at Scan Computers. This CPU uses newer Zen 5 CPU cores and runs at higher clock speeds than AMD’s Ryzen 5 7500. This gives the Ryzen 5 9600X performance and pricing advantages over the Ryzen 5 7500.

As it stands, the Ryzen 5 7500 offers poor value in today’s CPU market, since you can buy better AMD CPUs for less. If you are considering the Ryzen 5 7500, look instead at a Ryzen 5 7600X or Ryzen 5 9600X. Both are better CPUs with lower prices.
