RTX 6060 expected in 2029 as Nvidia “drag the release” – leaker claims
Nvidia’s RTX 6060 could arrive much later than expected
The RTX 50 series may be almost two years old, but that doesn’t mean that there’s any concrete information about the RTX 60 series. Right now, it is unclear when Nvidia plans to release any of its next-generation GPUs. Specifications, architectural details, and other factors also remain a mystery. Now, hardware leaker KeplerL2 has detailed their expected release date for Nvidia’s RTX 6060 GPU, and it’s much later than Nvidia’s usual schedule. “There’s a good chance RTX 6060 comes out in 2029”, the leaker claimed.
Nvidia’s RTX 6060 isn’t expected to launch until 2029. That means gamers will need to wait at least two more years for a lower-end Nvidia RTX 60-series GPU. Furthermore, the GPU isn’t expected to deliver performance levels that match Sony’s PlayStation 6.
Typically, Nvidia releases new XX60-series GPUs 2-2.5 years after their predecessors. If KeplerL2’s release timeframe is accurate, Nvidia’s RTX 6060 will arrive 3.5-4 years after Nvidia’s RTX 5060. That’s an insanely long wait for new low-end desktop GPUs.
Nvidia hasn’t officially unveiled its RTX 60 series or the RTX 6060. These products could be years away from launch. Based on KeplerL2’s thoughts, Nvidia’s higher-end RTX 60 series GPUs will likely arrive in 2028. After all, Nvidia’s RTX xx60 series GPUs usually arrive later than their higher-end counterparts.
KeplerL2 expect “a supply shortage” to force Nvidia to “drag the release” of lower-end RTX 60 series GPUs. This could mean Nvidia’s RTX 6060 launches long after its higher-end RTX 60 series models. It also means Nvidia could accelerate its release timetable if the expected “supply shortages” don’t materialise in 2028/2029. That said, nothing short of the implosion of the AI datacenter market would cause that.
As it stands, gamers should expect a long wait before Nvidia releases any new lower-end RTX desktop GPUs.
