PCSpecialist Topaz Exige Review

Introduction

No matter how often we receive one of their systems the first thing that always strikes us about the PCSpecialist way of building PCs is how quickly they can leverage their enormous purchasing power to utilise the very latest hardware.

We’d barely sat down after reviewing the newest addition to the AMD Ryzen range of processors, the gaming focused Ryzen 7 5800X3D when the Topaz Exige system arrived on our doorstep. A system based around this processor but also utilising all the components that AMD have to offer. As always there is not a component here that is expensive for the sake of it, but instead it’s been carefully designed to give you the biggest bang for buck.

Sure you could have a Ryzen 9 5950X, but the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is affordable and brings genuine gaming benefits. Similarly the Radeon 6800 XT is the best bang for buck in the AMD Radeon range, neither expensive nor cheap but poorly performing. Using the ASUS Strix X570-F motherboard as the basis is a similarly wise decision. You get the famous ROG branding in your system, the RGB fun and games of a Strix, but it’s neither as cheap as a B660 nor as eye-wateringly pricey as something like the Crosshair VIII Extreme.

Of course the proof is in the pudding, so let’s cast our eye across it before seeing how it performs.

System Specifications

The Topaz Exige is all about giving you great gaming performance from the latest model in the AMD Ryzen 5000 series, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. When you add that to the excellent AMD Radeon 6800 XT graphics card the Topaz Exige certainly promises good gaming performance, and backing that up with the supremely fast Samsung 980 Pro NVMe M.2 and 16GB of Corsair Dominator RAM promises that there will be no weak spots in the system.
