be quiet! revamps its case lineup with their new Dark base 701 chassis
be quiet revamps its Dark Base case series with their new 701 high-airflow chassis
Today, be quiet has revealed their new Dark Base 701 PC case, a successor to their popular Dark Base 700 design. This new PC chassis is designed to bring PC cooling performance to a new level, while also offering support for a broad range of motherboards.
Over the past few years, GPUs and CPUs have become increasingly power-hungry. This has made case airflow an increasingly important aspect of case design. With this in mind, the 701 features full mesh top and front panels, and three pre-installed Silent Wings 4 fans out of the box. The case has also been updated with some integrated RGB lighting.
The Dark Base 701 is a smaller and more affordable alternative to be quiet’s Dark Base 901, which we reviewed earlier this year. While it is the 901’s smaller brother, be quiet’s 701 retain support for motherboards up to EATX (up to 275mm wide) in size. The case also supports an inverted system layout.
be quiet’s Dark Base 701 features a huge number of removable parts. The case’s front ant top radiator/fan plates can be easily removed. This makes the PC building process simpler, and makes it a lot easier to upgrade, or clean your PC. With so many removable parts, users can easily give their systems a new look by painting some elements of their case. This will void your warranty, but so would most PC mods.
The Dark Rock 701 features support for up to two 360mm liquid cooling radiators. The case also supports ATX PSUs that are up to 250mm long, and graphics cards up to 430mm long.
Inside the Dark Base 701
be quiet’s new 701 chassis features space for up to three 2.5-inch devices and two 3.5-inch devices. The case also features a builti-in fan/RGB controller, which can control up to two ARGB devices and up to eight PWM fans.
Below you can also see the dedicated cable routing channels of be quiet’s Dark Rock 701 PC case, which make cable management a simple process.
Inverted Layout support
One of the key features of the Dark Rock 701 is its support for an inverted motherboard layout. This is a great feature for PC builders who like the idea of this alternative PC layout. It’s also a great option for changing up your system after your initial build. When compared to the Dark Base 700, the 701 has a simpler inversion process tha requires fewer steps.
Pricing and Availability
be quiet’s Dark Base 701 will be available to purchase on November 14 with a recommended retail price of $229.90 / â¬229.00 / £229.99. This case will only be available in black.
