HWMonitor gains next-gen “Medusa Point” AMD Ryzen CPU support
HWMonitor gains “preliminary support” for next-generation AMD Ryzen CPUs
HWMonitor version 1.61 has been released, and adds support for a range of new processors. This includes support for AMD’s Ryzen 7 9850X3D, their Ryzen 5 7500X3D (review here), and Intel’s upcoming Core Ultra 200K Plus series CPUs. Most notably, this update enabled “preliminary support” for AMD’s next-generation “Medusa Point” CPUs.
At OCP 2026, AMD confirmed that its “Medusa” codename refers to its Zen 6 processors. AMD’s upcoming “Medusa Point” appears to be a next-generation mobile CPU. It is likely a successor to AMD’s “Strix Point” CPUs. This preliminary support indicates that AMD’s Zen 6 CPU development is progressing smoothly. After all, software enablement in analytics software like HWMonitor is commonplace ahead of new CPU launches. That said, we expect AMD to unveil its next-generation mobile CPUs in late 2026 or early 2027.
