Noctua finally releases their next-generation NH-D15 G2 CPU cooler

It’s here! Noctua has released their long-awaited NH-D15 G2 CPU cooler

It’s finally here, Noctua’s next-generation NH-D15 CPU cooler has arrived, promising to deliver users the “ultimate quiet cooling performance”. Meet the Noctua NH-D15 G2, an all new heatsink design with new fans, a redesigned fin stack, and unique base plate options.

With an asking price of £127.95, this is an expensive CPU cooler. That said, this heatsink is a major upgrade over Noctua’s legendary NH-D15. For starters, we have eight large heat pipes and 20% more surface area than Noctua’s last-generation heatsink. Beyond that, we have newly designed NF-A14x25r G2 fans. Both Noctua’s heatsink and fan designs have improved, giving Noctua multiple avenues for improved heatsink performance.

At 60 degrees, Noctua claims that their new heatsink has a heat dissipation capacity of  over 600 watts. For the original NH-D15, the cooler’s dissipation capacity was around 450 watts. That’s a huge performance boost for Noctua’s new heatsink. Clearly, a lot of engineering has gone into this new CPU cooler.

Three Versions – Which Noctua NH-D15 G2 model is best for you?

At launch, three versions of the NH-D15 G2 are available. These are the “Standard”, HBC, and LBC. The standard version is designed for all CPUs. It is a general purpose CPU cooler that should work well with everything. For optimal performance, users may opt for the Low Base Convexity (LBC) or High Base Convexity (HBC) versions to best suit their specific CPU.

Optimal contact will result in lower CPU thermals, with LBC models being best suited to AMD AM4, AMD AM5, and Intel LGA2066 CPUs. HBC models are best suited to more strongly concave CPUs like Intel’s LGA1700 processors. This makes the HBC version ideal for Intel’s LGA-1700 CPUs, like the i9-14900K.

Pricing

All three versions of the Noctua NH-D15 G2 are now available in the UK for £127.95. These heatsinks will ship with two fans, some of Noctua’s second gen NT-H2 thermal paste, and low noise fan adapters.

Last month, we reviewed Noctua’s new NV-FS1 Desk fan and their HOME cooling lineup. You can read this review here.
