Noctua has removed white fans from their roadmap to focus on other projects

Noctua has put the development of their white Chromax fans on hold, and the project may never be revived

In response to a fan on Twitter/X, Noctua has confirmed that they have put the development of their white Chromax series fans “on hold”. Noctua has done this to increase their focus on other projects. Currently, it’s “unclear if the project will be revived in the future”.

This news from Noctua will no doubt be hugely disappointing for Noctua fans. Noctua first showcased their white Chromax fans at CES 2019. Over four years have passed since then, and now we know that they have dropped their white fan plans.

Now, Noctua’s focus is on their next-generation 140mm fan design and their next-generation NH-D15 heatsink. Both of these products will launch Q2 2024 alongside a next-generation NH-L12 design. In Q4 2024, Noctua plans to release their next 140mm fans in black.

Honestly, now is a strange time for Noctua to give up on white hardware. Lately, we have seen a lot of PC hardware companies invest heavily in white hardware. At CES 2024, Gigabyte showcased a range of new white PC products. Last month, PowerColor revealed their white RX 7900 XT Hellhound graphics card, and XFX’s white RX 7800 XT Speedster QICK 319 GPU leak. White PC hardware appears to be in high demand, and Noctua simply aren’t working to take advantage of this trend right now.

In recent years, Noctua has faced challenges releasing new products on time. Noctua’s next-generation NH-D15 was originally due to launch in late 2021. This new heatsink still has not been launched, and Noctua’s roadmap claims that it is coming in Q2 2024.
