Noctua’s full 2019 multi-socket Cooler Lineup now supports AM4
While Noctua was one of the first manufacturers to offer AM4 compliant CPU coolers, the company also opted to ship free Ryzen upgrade kits for their full mainstream heatsink lineup, but waiting for the shipment of additional parts and ordering a free upgrade kit is far from ideal when it comes to convenience.
Over time, Noctua has added AM4 mounting kits to their full multi-socket CPU cooler lineup to ship with support for AM4, adding support for AMD’s latest CPU platform without any increase in retail pricing.
Today, Noctua’s AM4 supporting CPU coolers include their NH-C14S, NH-D15, NH-D15S, NH-D9L, NH-L9x65, NH-U12S, NH-U14S and NH-U9S. On top of that these CPU coolers also ship with support for Intel’s LGA2066, LGA2011, LGA1156, LGA1155, LGA1151 and LGA1150 sockets as well as the AMD’s previous generations platforms, such as AM2/, AM3/, FM1 andFM2/.
Noctua has confirmed that their updated AM4 coolers have all been shipping for several months to retailers, making it unlikely that any new CPU cooler purchaser will receive legacy stock that lacks AM4 support. Those who are shipped older cooler stock can still apply for an AM4 mounting kit on Noctua’s website.
Below is a comment from Noctua’s CEO, Roland Mossig.
We’ve supported AMD’s Ryzen platform with our SE-AM4 models and free-of-charge mounting upgrades from the very beginning,
As with Intel’s LGA115x and 20xx platforms, our customers have greatly appreciated our free upgrade policy. We’ve provided many thousands of free mounting kits and quite a few customers have migrated 10-year-old heatsinks they had already used on several socket generations. This means a lot to us and we’ll continue to offer the free kits of course. However, with AM4 becoming more and more popular, we think it is time to also include the mountings with our existing models so that customers have everything at hand when they purchase new coolers.
To help their users select the correct coolers for AM4, Noctua has provided an easy to understand guide which lists their CPU coolers that support AMD’s AM4 socket. This guide can be read here. Another guide is also available which details how users can find out if their CPU cooler supports AM4 by looking at the product’s packaging. This guide can be read here.
