AMD blames ASRock Ryzen 9000 boot issues on “compatibility issue”
AMD tells ASRock motherboard users to update their BIOS to the latest version
AMD has confirmed that they have completed a joint investigation with ASRock into reports of Ryzen 9000 CPU failures on ASRock’s AM5 motherboards. This investigation uncovered a compatibility issue that resulted in CPUs failing to post. Thankfully, this issue can be addressed through a motherboard BIOS update.
AMD has recommended that users of ASRock AM5 motherboards update their BIOS to the latest version. This should address these CPU posting problems. Note that AMD says these CPU post failures are not indicative of a faulty CPU or motherboard.
Below is a statement from AMD to Tom’s Hardware about the issue.
We are aware of a limited number of user reports involving ASRock AM5 motherboards failing to complete POST. Following a joint investigation, AMD and ASRock identified a memory capability issue present in earlier BIOS versions, which has been rectified in the latest BIOS.
ASRock has already issued guidance on this behavior and addressed a singular report of a damaged CPU.
It’s worth noting that a failure to POST can be caused by a range of factors and does not necessarily indicate a non-functional CPU,
We recommend that users start by updating their BIOS to the latest version available for their specific motherboard model.

AMD’s Ryzen 9000 X3D CPUs have proven incredibly popular amongst gamers. These CPU booting issues have done tremendous damage to ASRock’s reputation as an AMD motherboard producer. While ASRock has issued fixes for their motherboards to deliver proper ADM Ryzen 9000 CPU compatibility, it will take time for the PC enthusiast community to see past this event. After all, no other AM5 motherboard producer had this compatibility issue, only ASRock.
