AMD markets its Ryzen 9000 X3D CPUs as “1000 FPS” gaming CPUs in China

AMD claims its X3D tech can be used to play games at “1000 FPS”

At a Chinese event, as reported by @realVictor_M, AMD has referred to its Ryzen 9000 X3D gaming CPUs as “1000 FPS” processors. When paired with powerful enough graphics cards, AMD has stated that peak framerates of over 1000 FPS have been achieved in games like Valorant, Counter-Strike 2, PUBG Battlegrounds, and League of Legends.

The slide lists three CPUs as part of their “AMD 1000 FPS Club Members”. These CPUs are AMD’s Ryzen 9 9950X3D, Ryzen 7 9800X3D, and Ryzen 9 9955HX3D. To achieve 1000 FPS gaming performance, AMD’s AM5 X3D processors use DDR5-6000 CL30 memory.

Note that AMD’s slide showcases 1000 FPS performance with three GPUs. These are AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 XT, Nvidia’s RTX 5080, and Nvidia’s RTX 5090 D. Sadly, AMD’s RX 9070 XT only achieved 1000 FPS+ performance in two of the six listed games. These are League of Legends, and Valorant.

While achieving 1000 FPS gaming performance is a huge achievement, it is worth noting that 1000 Hz gaming monitors are not available. Today’s fastest monitors are only capable of 720 Hz refresh rates. Note that 720 Hz is only available at 720p resolutions on these screens.

It is worth noting that a Chinese brand has announced plans to release a 1000 Hz gaming monitor in 2026. Perhaps AMD is trying to capitalise on the hype surrounding these displays? If not, why are AMD trying to hype up 1000 FPS gaming in a world without 1000 Hz monitors?
