AMD plans to integrate their Ryzen APU drivers into future Radeon Software Releases
On the custom PC side, AMD’s Ryzen 3 2200G and Ryzen 5 2400G offers gamers decent levels of gaming performance at a price that is lower than most standalone graphics cards, especially if users decide to overclock the unit’s Vega graphics unit.
The only problem with AMD’s Ryzen+Vega APUs on the gaming side is its complete lack of driver support since launch, with AMD failing to release a single new graphics drivers for the APU in the past three months, denying their users optimisations for modern gaming titles and several Radeon features like ReLive.
In an AMA on the Anandtech Forums, AMD’s James Prior was asked if AMD’s Raven Ridge (Ryzen+Vega) APU drivers would ever be integrated into the company’s mainstream Radeon Software Adrenalin driver stack. In response, James Prior stated that “Yes,” this would happen and that “you should see this happen this month”, which means that we should see a massive driver upgrade for AMD’s Raven Ridge series of APUs within the next few weeks.
This planned update will bring AMD’s Ryzen+Vega APU drivers in-line with their discrete counterparts, delivering new features to APU users and enhanced performance thanks to months worth of game-specific driver optimisations.
