AMD Ryzen 9 9950X CPU listed with lower than expected pricing

Unexpected price drop? AMD’s Ryzen 9000 series may be more affordable than expected

AMD’s next-generation Ryzen 9 9950X CPU was briefly listed at Canada Computers (thanks Wccftech), who listed the CPU with a price tag of 839 CAD. That translates to around $610 USD. This suggests that AMD’s new Zen 5 CPUs will launch with lower launch day prices than their Ryzen 7000 series counterparts. For example, the Ryzen 9 7950X launched with an MSRP of $699 USD. That means that Zen 5 could deliver PC builders both a performance boost and much more value for money.

With Zen 5, AMD has promised users a 16% IPC boost over Zen 4. Additionally, AMD has lowered the TDPs of most of their Zen 5 CPU lineup, suggesting that their new CPUs will be cooler running and less power hungry than their Ryzen 7000 series predecessors.

Overall, AMD’s Ryzen 9000 series CPUs should give users a significant boost in system performance. This is especially true for those who are upgrading from older CPU models.

AMD’s Ryzen 9 9950X will be a 16-core CPU for AM5 motherboards. This CPU will support AMD’s existing 600-series AM5 motherboards and new 800-series AM5 motherboard models.

Currently, AMD are expected to release their Ryzen 9000 series CPUs next month. Expect AMD to reveal official Zen 5 CPU pricing information in the near future.
