AMD Ryzen 9600 non-X CPU to launch in January – Leaker claims

AMD’s due to release non-X Ryzen 9000 series CPUs next month

It looks like AMD’s Ryzen 9000 CPU lineup is about to get much larger. Next month, AMD plans to release their Ryzen 5 9600 (non-X) CPU, replacing their Ryzen 5 7600. According to @AnhPhuH on Twitter/X, this CPU will launch in late January.

AMD’s Ryzen 5 9600 will be a lower-cost version of their Ryzen 5 9600X. It should feature a lower TDP, lower base/boost clock speeds, and the same amount of cache. Assuming AMD follows the same trends as prior Ryzen generations, this CPU will be a Ryzen 5 9600X with a minor drop in performance.

At CES, AMD will likely launch their B850 AM5 motherboard chipset. B850 will be a value-focused alternative to AMD’s X870 and X870E chipsets. Alongside AMD’s new 9600 CPU, this should lower the cost of entry-level Ryzen 9000-based PCs. That’s great news for PC builders.

Today, AMD’s Ryzen 5 9600X is available for around £229.99 in the UK. We expect the AMD Ryzen 5 9600 to cost less than that, around £200. Honestly, we would be disappointed if AMD charged much more than that.
