AMD’s Ryzen 2nd Generation is rumoured to be in Q1-Q2 2018

A new AMD roadmap has leaked online, revealing the release schedule of AMD’s upcoming Ryzen series CPUs, with Ryzen 2nd generation coming towards the end of Q1/start of Q2 and Ryzen Gaming coming in Q2.

AMD Ryzen 2nd Generation is expected to be a 12nm refresh of Ryzen, which means that it is not supposed to use AMD’s Zen 2/ architecture. These new processors are expected to offer some modest architectural improvements over Ryzen, though at this time it is unknown precisely what improvements AMD will deliver here.

Ryzen Gaming is expected to be AMD’s Desktop-grade CPU/GPU combo (APU), offering Vega graphics and Zen CPU cores in a single package. With the release of Ryzen Gaming AM4 users will finally be able to use the display outputs on their motherboards, which are previously unusable with existing Ryzen CPUs.

AMD is expected to release new 400-series chipsets at the start of 2018, with Pinnacle Ridge being expected to offer modest clock speed improvements over Ryzen and a more powerful memory controller. This new series of processors should allow AMD to offer more performance per core and support faster DDR4 memory.
