AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800X3D returns to UK retailers

AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800X3D is now available through UK retailers

It’s official, AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition CPU is now available in the UK. AMD’s top gaming CPU for socket AM4 has returned to UK retailers. PC gamers on AM4 now have a solid CPU upgrade option, and PC builders can avoid high DDR5 memory prices by using AMD’s older DDR4-based AM4 socket.

While it comes with a high asking price (higher than a Ryzen 7 7800X3D in the UK), the lower cost of DDR4 memory and AM4 motherboards more than makes up for this difference. AMD needed to re-engineer its Ryzen 7 5800X3D to bring it back. Additionally, this new 10th Anniversary Edition CPU also ships with a Carbice Ice Pad thermal pad. Unlike thermal paste, this carbon nanotube-based thermal interface pad is a maintenance-free solution that requires no reapplication. Clearly, AMD wants this CPU to be usable long-term without maintenance.

The Ryzen 7 5800X3D is an 8-core Zen 3 CPU featuring AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology. This CPU has 96MB of L3 cache, which is three times as much as AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800X. This extra cache gives this CPU a tremendous performance boost over its non-X3D counterparts in gaming applications. This makes the Ryzen 7 5800X3D the best gaming CPU available on AMD’s AM4 socket.

or AM4 users, this relaunch offers gamers the prospect of an affordable but effective upgrade path. By avoiding a new platform and costly DDR5 memory, gamers can access a powerful gaming processor with plenty of cache. Yes, it’s weaker than AMD’s newer X3D gaming CPUs, but it’s much better than any non-X3D CPU option on socket AM4. This CPU lets gamers avoid the high prices of DDR5 memory while still enjoying the benefits of AMD X3D technology. AM4’s gaming king has returned. Long live the king!
