We have finally gotten our first look at AMD’s new X399 Threadripper CPU platform, where AMD will be releasing CPUs with up to 16-cores, quad channel memory and support for a huge number of PCIe devices.

Today we have a look at ASRock’s new X399 Taichi and X399 Professional Gaming motherboards, which host AMD’s new TR4 socket and sports many advanced features that do not exist on AM4. Both of ASRock’s new motherboards feature a U.2 port as well as three Ultra M.2 slots as well as four total PCIe 16x lanes.

Interestingly, the X399 Professional Gaming will feature at least one 10 Gigabit Ethernet port, while the Taichi will feature a standard Intel Gigabit Ethernet connection. This results in a situation where the AMD X399 Taichi has more Intel branding on the motherboard than AMD branding.
