ASUS China hints at new AMD Ryzen X3D CPUs and AM5 BTF motherboards
ASUS X870 BTF motherboards are coming, and so are new AMD Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs – ASUS China suggests
Tony Yo, ASUS China’s General Manager (via Uniko’s Hardware), has hinted that we will be seeing a lot of new AMD products at CES 2025. It has been hinted that we will see a “more powerful GPU at CES,” after referring to AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D, and suggested that ASUS planned to reveal AM5 BTF series motherboards soon.
ASUS’ BTF (Back To Future/Back To Front) motherboards use back-connect motherboard connections to give PCs an ultra-clean, cable-free appearance. We reviewed a full ASUS BTF system earlier this year, and it was awesome. That said, ASUS’ BTF hardware options are limited. Only Intel BTF motherboards are currently available, though it looks like this will change in 2025.
Based on Tony Yu’s comments, AMD plans to reveal more Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs at CES 2025. These will likely be the Ryzen 9 9900X3D and Ruzen 9 9950X3D. With 12 and 16 cores, respectively, these CPUs will deliver more multi-threaded performance than AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
Motherboard-wise, we expect to see new ASUS AM5 motherboards that use AMD’s X870 chipset and BTF support at CES 2025. It is also probable that we will also see Back-Connect AM5 motherboards using MSI’s “Project Zero” technology.
