ASUS rolls out their first stability-fixing Intel Z790 BIOS updates

ASUS releases BETA Z790 BIOS updates that feature Intel’s “129 Microcode” stability fix

Intel has released their new “129 Microcode” update to their motherboard partners, delivering their highly anticipated stability fix for Intel 13th/14th generation processors. ASUS has become the first motherboard manufacturer to release this Intel stability-fixing microcode update to customers as part of new Beta BIOS updates. This microcode addresses the “elevated operating voltage” issue that has impacted Intel Raptor Lake series processors.

This beta update is not expected to impact the performance or overclockability of Intel processors. It is designed to prevent more 13th/14th generation Intel processors from becoming unstable. However, it will not be able to address the instability of already unstable/damaged Intel processors. Users with unstable Intel 13th/14th gen CPUs can get their CPUs replaced through their warranty. Intel has increased the warranties of affected CPUs by two years.

ASUS’ beta “129 Microcode” BIOS updates for their Z790 motherboard are available to download here. More beta BIOS updates for Intel 600 and 700 series motherboards are due to be released in the near future. Non-beta versions of these updates will become available after they pass further levels of validation.

Intel users should take care when updating their motherboard’s BIOS. If you want to install one of these beta updates, then you should follow your motherboard instructions carefully.
