Gigabyte release their X399 Designare EX motherboard

Gigabyte has officially revealed their new X399 Designare motherboard, which is designed to support AMD’s new TR4 Threadripper series of CPUs, offering a stylish silver colour scheme alongside a high-end feature set.  

This motherboard is designed to offer 64 PCIe lanes with all of AMD’s Threadripper series CPUs, allowing this motherboard to offer support for up to seven M.2 NVMe SSDs in a RAID configuration if the user wishes. This motherboard also comes with three M.2 SSD heatsinks that are said to offer thermal improvements of up to 20-degrees Celsius when under sustained loads. This motherboard also comes with support for 4-way SLI/Crossfire configurations, though this use case is expected to be rare given both AMD and Nvidia’s lack of support for large multi-GPU configurations. 

One feature that Gigabyte was keen to talk about is this board’s support for their server-grade digital VRM design, with 3rd generations PowIRstage, allowing this motherboard to deliver power in an efficient and effective manner. Both the 8-pin and 4-pin CPU power connectors on this motherboard are also gold plated to ensure minimal loses to conductivity when powering this motherboard. We can also see that Gigabyte has opted for a large VRM heatsink design, which is great news for those who want to overclock their Threadripper-powered system.

Like most modern Gigabyte motherboards, the X399 Designare EX comes with support for RGB fusion, which is a Gigabyte app that allows users to control RGB LED strips that are attached to this motherboard’s included RGB pin-outs as well as this motherboard’s integrated lighting. 

Sadly Gigabyte has not given us the final pricing of this new motherboard, though they are expected to arrive at retailers soon.
