Intel are rumoured to launch Skylake-X and their X299 chipset at Gamescom 2017
New rumours from Benchlife suggest that Intel will not be ready to release their upcoming Skylake-X series CPUs at Computex 2017, with the company delaying the release of their new processors and X299 chipset in August at Gamescom 2017.
Gamescom will take place between August 22nd and 26th, with Intel’s new X299 platform supporting both Intel’s Kaby Lake-X and Skylake-X series CPUs on Intel’s LGA 2066 socket.
Skylake-X will release with 10-core, 8-core and 6-core models, with Kaby lake-X coming with high TDP quad-core parts. Skylake-X will have a TDP of 140W whereas Kaby Lake X will come with a TDP of 112W.
Intel’s LGA2066/X299 platform will support up to four channels of DDR4 memory with 2667MHz memory, though it is expected that these new processors will handle faster 3200MHz and above memory speeds with relative ease.
At this time the full specifications of Intel’s Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X series CPUs are unknown, though Skylake-X is expected to have additional PCIe lanes when compared to their Haswell-E and Broadwell-E counterparts.
