Intel has confirmed that their X299 series of Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X products will be available to purchase on June 26th, with Pre-orders starting on June 19th.

Sadly, not all of Intel’s X299 lineup will be available at purchase these dates, with 12-18 core Skylake-X CPUs being stated for released at a later date. This means at launch, Intel will only be releasing 4-core Kaby Lake-X Products and 6,8 and 10-core Skylake-X Products.

Right now Intel expects to release their 12-core Skylake-X CPU in August, but those who want to own a 14-18 core CPU will need to wait until at least October for these products to hit retail.

X299 will certainly be an Interesting release, with Skylake-X offering much more affordable pricing and higher clock speeds than their Broadwell-E counterparts, we need to remember what has brought on this sudden change of heart from Intel.

AMD has brought some real competition back into the X86 CPU market space and has places X299 in their sights with their upcoming Threadripper series of CPUs, which is rumoured to come with some attractive price points of its own.
