MSI delivers first Z790 BIOS updates to address Intel CPU stability issues
MSI releases their first Z790 BIOS updates with Intel’s “0x129” Raptor Lake stability fix
Following ASUS, MSI has become the second major motherboard manufacturer to release Z790 motherboard updates that contain the new Intel microcode stability fix for 13th/14th generation Raptor Lake CPUs. This microcode addresses the âelevated operating voltageâ issue that has impacted Intel Raptor Lake series processors.
MSI has released an initial batch of BIOS updates for a range of Z790 motherboards. Currently, MSI plans to release BIOS updates for all Intel 700 and 600 series motherboards over the coming weeks. MSI wants to release this Intel stability fix to all 600 and 700 series motherboard owners as soon as possible. Additionally, MSI will be releasing similar updates for all of their Intel 13th/14th generation based desktop PCs this month.
Regarding the instability of the Intel Core 14th /13th Gen desktop processors, MSI will release the latest BIOS of Intel 700 and 600 series motherboards and 14th /13th Generation Desktop PC with 0x129 microcode to mitigate the instability.
The 1st batch of BIOS releasing models are MEG Z790 GODLIKE MAX, MEG Z790 ACE MAX, MPG Z790 CARBON MAX WIFI II, MPG Z790 CARBON WIFI, MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI and Z790MPOWER. All BIOS of Intel 700 and 600 series motherboards and 14th /13th Generation Desktop PC will be released soon in coming weeks by the end of August. MSI will continue to update our users on the latest news. Please follow MSI’s official channels and check the product pages for the latest BIOS updates.
This beta update is not expected to impact the performance or overclockability of Intel processors. It is designed to prevent more 13th/14th generation Intel processors from becoming unstable. However, it will not be able to address the instability of already unstable/damaged Intel processors. Users with unstable Intel 13th/14th gen CPUs can get their CPUs replaced through their warranty. Intel has increased the warranties of affected CPUs by two years.
