Windows 11’s AMD-boosting update is now available to everyone

Windows 11’s AMD Ryzen optimisation update has been backported and is now available to download

Earlier this week we reported on how Windows 11’s 24H2 update delivers huge performance increases for AMD Ryzen CPUs in gaming workloads. Now, we can confirm that this update is now available as an optional update for today’s version of Windows (23H2). That means that Ryzen users will no longer need to use a preview build of Windows to access this free Ryzen performance boost.

This update delivers performance gains for AMD’s Zen 3, Zen 4, and Zen 5 CPUs. Testing has confirmed average performance gains of around 10% across a wide range of games. Note that in rare instances, performance gains as high as 30% are possible, highlighting how huge of an impact this update can have.

Windows 11 users can learn more about this new Windows update here. This update will give Windows 11 23H2 the same optimisations as the upcoming 24Hz version of Windows. This makes this update a must download for AMD Ryzen CPU users.

We wanted to let you know that the branch prediction optimisation found in Windows 11 24H2 has now been backported to Windows 11 23H2. Users will need to look for KB5041587 under Windows Update > Advanced Options > Optional Updates. We expect the performance uplift to be very similar between 24H2 and 23H2 with KB5041587 installed.

The arrival of this update will come as good news for all gamers with Ryzen CPUs. This is effectively a free performance boost for AMD Ryzen users. That’s great news for existing Ryzen users, and anyone who planned to upgrade to one of AMD’s newest processors.
