ACER reveals their OJO 500 MR Headset with a detachable display

The OJO 500MR was showcased in two flavours, with a €449 basic option and a premium €499 version. The difference between these two models lies in their headgear, with the basic OJO 500 offering a basic strap-on mounting system and an “audio” pipe for headphone-free audio, while the premium version has a PSVR-like head strap and integrated headphones, which are designed to deliver increased comfort and improved audio quality.     

The primary benefits of Acer’s modular design is its potential for upgradability, offering users the potential to upgrade without purchasing new headgear or to facilitate easier repairs for commercial users. The OJO 500’s display provides a new adjustable lens feature, using an interpupillary distance wheel, which wasn’t available on Acer’s previous Windows MR headset, allowing users to adjust their headset better to achieve increased image quality. The OJO 500 makes use of two 2.89-inch 1440×1440 90Hz LCD displays, which appear to the same displays that are used on Acer’s existing Windows MR headsets.  

Acer’s OJO 500 uses the same tracking and motion control system as its predecessor, offering inside-out tracking that can track controller movement while the motion controllers are within the headset’s field of view.
