AMD Drivers gain FSR 8x Multi-Frame Generation references and more
AMD’s reportedly testing a suite of upcoming FSR upgrades, and 8x Multi-Frame Generation may be in the works
RadeonTuner (GitHub link here) has exposed new AMD Radeon GPU variables hinting at a major update to FSR. These experimental AMD driver settings unveil new Override options for FSR Ray Regeneration, Neural Radiance Caching, and Multi-Frame Generation. Yes, AMD has (once again) confirmed its plans to deliver FSR Multi-Frame Generation.
What’s shocking is that AMD’s FSR Multi-Frame Generation interface appears to have settings for 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 7x, and 8x. That’s right, AMD has 8x Multi-Frame Generation in development. That’s enough to turn a base framerate of 60 FPS into 480 FPS.
While this update does not confirm that AMD will release 8x Frame Generation in the future, it implies that they are testing the option. Currently, AMD has FSR Override options for FSR Upscaling and FSR Frame Generation. These options can upgrade games to FSR 4.1 upscaling and FSR ML Frame Generation when using supported hardware. These experimental FSR 3x-8x Frame Generation modes are reportedly limited to RDNA 4 and newer GPUs.

These new/hidden options started appearing with AMD Software Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2 drivers. Note that these options are non-functional and likely require new/experimental FSR DLLs and other files to function.
With updates across Multi-Frame Generation, Ray Reconstruction, and Neural Radiance Caching, AMD’s FSR technology suite could be in for a major update later this year. Is this FSR Diamond?
