AMD FSR 4.1 Upscaler leaks – Image Quality Gains Revealed
AMD FSR 4.1 update reportedly leaks through Radeon Driver Preview
It looks like AMD is getting ready to upgrade its FSR 4 upscaler. An alleged AMD Software 26.2.2 driver preview that includes FSR 4.1 has reportedly been released via AMD’s Invite-Only Vanguard program. Through his driver update, a leaker has released the files for AMD’s new FSR 4.1 update, allowing gamers to use the new upscaler early through tools like Optiscaler.
Performance-wise, FSR 4.1 reportedly performs similarly to FSR 4.0, though image quality has reportedly improved. Sadly, because this FSR version was leaked, we do not know what AMD has changed. As such, we can only speculate as to what AMD has focused on with this version of FSR 4.

Based on the image comparison below from Hogwarts Legacy, AMD’s FSR 4.1 update appears to improve the quality of foliage. We can also see increased detail in the tree. It is currently unknown if this update lessens ghosting or includes any other improvements.

Thanks to AMD’s “FSR Upgrade” feature, all games that currently support FSR 4 should support FSR 4.1. This means that gamers should receive an image quality boost when using supported graphics cards. This is good news for RDNA 4 users, as receiving an image quality boost with no performance downsides is a pure win.
We expect AMD to officially unveil FSR 4.1 soon. If it was intended for AMD Software version 26.2.2, we can expect the driver to be released in the near future.
