AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB remains on track

AMD’s RX 9060 XT will launch in 8GB and 16GB forms – Benchlife claims

Benchlife.info has reported that AMD’s Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB is alive and well, refuting rumours of the GPU’s cancellation. AMD’s RX 9060 XT is due to be revealed at Computex 2025, with AMD revealing 8/16GB models of their new RDNA 4 graphics card.

Following the release of the RTX 5060 Ti, Nvidia faced a backlash over its 8GB GPU model. One reviewer called the 8GB version “instantly obsolete” after comparing it to its 16GB counterpart. Simply put, many modern games can easily use more than 8GB of VRAM and suffer performance issues on 8GB GPUs.

Currently, the pricing and performance level of AMD’s RNDA 4-powered Radeon RX 9060 XT are unknown. If priced well, it may have a place in today’s GPU market. That said, the 16GB model will be a better purchase, as users will not have to work around VRAM-related issues.

What’s worth noting is that rumours of AMD cancelling its 8GB Radeon RX 9060 XT only stated that AMD considered this action. These rumours said that the GPU was already in production, and that AMD may choose to phase out this GPU model quickly. Ultimately, AMD needs to see the market’s appetite for another new 8GB graphics card. If the demand isn’t there, AMD will prioritise their GPU’s 16GB version.
