AMD Radeon RX 9070 GPU Benchmarked in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 impresses in early benchmark

IGN has benchmarked one of AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 (non-XT) graphics cards at CES. AMD was demoing the GPU with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and IGN managed to gain control of the system and navigate to the game’s benchmark mode. This allowed them to test the game at native 4K with “Extreme” settings.

AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 delivered an average framerate of 99 FPS without upscaling or frame generation. This Radeon RX 9070 XT result is higher than our Radeon RX 7900 XT achieved when we benchmarked Black Ops 6 at launch. That’s an impressive result from AMD, as we know that AMD also has a higher-end RX 9070 XT model planned.

It is worth noting that this GPU was tested using early drivers. That means that AMD could improve the performance of this graphics card further with new optimisations. Regardless, this is a strong result for AMD. Note that the screenshot below also shows that AMD’s RX 9070 has 16GB of VRAM.

With their RDNA 4 series GPUs, AMD aims to deliver strong value for money. AMD wants market share, and that means that it needs to deliver more performance while delivering lower pricing.

If this result in indicative of the RX 9070’s performance in other games, it looks like RDNA 4 will be a strong graphics architecture for AMD. Let’s hope that AMD reveals more details about RDNA 4 soon, as gamers are eager to see more from AMD following Nvidia’s RTX 50 series GPU reveal.
