AMD RX 640 and RX 630 appear within Radeon Drivers – Polaris Rebranded?
Looking at this driver, Videocardz has uncovered a second new graphics chip called the RX 630, stating that both the RX 640 and RX 630 are Polaris rebrands of the RX540X and RX 550X respectively. Rumour has it that AMD’s upcoming Navi series of graphics cards will be released under an RX 3000 series naming scheme, which will prevent confusion with these Polaris-based RX 600 series graphics chips.Â
Alternatively, AMD’s entire next-generation graphics lineup could use the RX 600 series brand name, which would be a welcome change from the Radeon Vega lineup, which offers the RX Vega 56, RX Vega 64 and the more recent Radeon VII. A traditional numbered naming scheme will be much easier to understand than AMD’s more recent branding efforts. Â
