AMD sells over 200,000 RX 9070 series GPUs in their “first wave”

AMD has already sold over 200,000 RDNA 4 GPUs, and more are coming

Update – AMD has stated to Tom’s Hardware that Benchlife made a mistake when discussing these sales claims. AMD claims that they reported no sales numbers at their event. Our original reporting is below.

Earlier this month, AMD launched their Radeon RX 9070 series of graphics cards (see our review here), and the launch was a huge success for Team Radeon. According to a report from Benchlife, AMD has sold over 200,000 graphics cards as part of their “first wave” of RX 9070 series products. AMD’s RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT are mostly sold-out, and AMD is working with its partners to restock these GPUs.

Today’s GPU market is hugely supply-constrained. Pretty much all newly released graphics cards are sold out. Both AMD and Nvidia are producing as many gaming GPUs as they can to meet demand, though it will take time for the GPU market to stabilise.

Analysts currently expect the GPU to stabilise in Q2 2025. This will normalise GPU supply/demand and should help reduce graphics card pricing.

As GPU availability improves, pricing will normalise. After all, if GPUs are readily available, sellers cannot demand inflated prices. However, if AMD and Nvidia fail to meet demand, the GPU market will remain unstable.

For now, gamers should expect GPUs to become in stock frequently as new shipments arrive. Even so, it may take months for supply and demand to normalise.
