AMD adds Radeon Vega Frontier Edition support to their Radeon Software Mining driver
AMD has released a new version of their new block-chain compute driver for their Radeon GPUs, offering support for the company’s Radeon Vega Frontier EDition GPU as well as AMD’s R-series GPUs. Â Â a driver that is not intended for gaming workloads but provides additional stability and performance in Blockchain Compute workloads.Â
This driver is not intended for gaming workloads but provides additional stability and performance in Blockchain Compute workloads, allowing Radeon GPUs to offer more performance at larger DAG sizes and slightly boosted performance on AMD’s Vega series of GPUs.
Seeing some initial testing from Legit Reviews using AMD’s original block-chain driver, we can see increased hashrate performance for large DAG sizes with this new driver as well as increased overall performance on AMD’s RX Vega. It has been noted that power draw is increased at these larger DAG sizes, but the increase in mining performance was more than worth the additional power draw.Â
