ASUS reveals its ROG Strix XG43UQ DSC gaming monitor – 4K, 144Hz, no compromises
Display Stream Compression Technology is an industry-standard that can be used with DisplayPort 1.4, offering what VESA calls “virtually lossless compression” to enable higher refresh rates and resolutions without hitting the bandwidth limits of DisplayPort. This makes 4K 144Hz monitors possible on DisplayPort 1.4 without chroma sub-sampling.Â
At the time of writing, DSC is only possible on AMD’s Radeon Navi graphics cards, so it makes sense for ASUS’ ROG Strix XG43UQ to align itself with AMD’s FreeSync 2 HDR ecosystem, offering VRR support and HDR support. This screen meets VESA’s DisplayHDR 1000 certification and offers colours which cover 90% of the DCI P3 colour space, delivering high contrast levels and stunning colour rendition. AMD’s FreeSync 2 HDR specification also sets limits on input lag, ensuring that gamers receive smooth gameplay and fast pixel response.Â

The ROG Strix XG43UQ uses a 43-inch matte HDR display, minimising screen reflectivity. This factor helps differentiate the ROG Strix XG43UQ from most other 43-inch screens. At this time, ASUS has not revealed a price tag or a release timeframe for this monitor.Â
