To start off, the ROG Strix 2070 features a 2.5-slot cooler, much like the ASUS ROG Strix GTX 1080 Ti, lacking the new Axial-Tech fans that are included in ASUS’ ROG Strix RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti models. This makes the ROG Strix RTX 2070 more similar to ASUS’ Pascal offerings, at least when it comes to cooling.Â
Sadly, ASUS has not revealed the clock speeds of either of these new graphics cards, or any of their custom RTX lineup for that matter, leaving consumers in the dark when it comes to the performance of either graphics card.Â
Strangely, ASUS’ RTX 2070 Dual offers a 2.7-slot cooler, making it thicker than its Strix counterpart, though it is likely that the Strix model will deliver higher levels of cooling performance thanks to its triple-fan heatsink design.Â

Another oddity is the apparent space for an NVLink connection on the RTX 2070 Dual, something which will no doubt ignite rumours that Nvidia’s Turing-powered RTX 2070 was initially designed to support NVLINK/SLI.Â
What is more likely is that ASUS is basing the PCB design of their RTX 2070 Dual on their RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti variants, allowing them to utilise the same cooler and backplate designs for each model. These design considerations likely made it easier/simpler for ASUS to leave the NVLINK finger spaces on the graphics card PCB of their RTX 2080 Dual. Â
